it's the big debate at this moment in time, well for those of us interested in body mods and anchors.
i have had MAJOR issues with micro dermals, and to be honest i dont even want to change the tops on them so for me personally a skin diver (or three) would be perfect. (possibly five) but after asking around for opinions i'm finding it hard to form one of my own - and that doesnt happen very often!
Micro dermals are larger than skin divers, they have holes in the plate (or don't depending on which ones you want) and you can change the tops on them.
my body does not like them!
i have had four and they have all come out and TBH the ones i want on my face are the ones i dont want to change the tops on.
Skin diovers are litterally TINY! i've seen them and...WOW...can't find anything smaller.
i've spoken to two piercers about them and they both say they're a "safer" form of a dermal anchor, by safer there is less damage to the tissue in the piercing and they heal quicker than a micro dermal with less bleeding and scar tissue, both during the piercing process, while its healing and if the little blighter comes out.
so you may be asking yourself "why can't you make a decision?"
simple answer is im paranoid that because i have had not one, not two, but four bad experiences with dermal anchors im really dubious about skin divers. i'm willing to have one done and give it a go, possibly somewhere like my wrist so i can see how it heals and if it comes out then the scar is on my wrist not my face.
i still just dont know, and i doubt i ever will because all i keep being told by friends is they are cheap and nasty and not as good as micro dermals!
maybe they're not but they are an alternative!
i can tell you this i am a piercer in tucson at fastlane tattoo and i got the skin divers in a few days ago i have placed a few in my own body to see how they do and so far i have had no problems with them i can tell you that they do bleed just about as much as a micro dermal for the piercing portion of it but after there alot easier to take care of and they are alot esier to take out as well if you are having problems on what one to use i would say go with the skin diver they are my choice for someone who does not want the permanence of the micro dermal hope this helps you out in some way if you have any questions you can email me at burnigdays@gmail.com or you can call the shop at 520-388-8282 and my name is stephen have a good day
ReplyDeleteI started out with skin divers. I had two on the top of each wrist, and even though the tiny part might be appealing- beware of these little suckers!
ReplyDeleteI have had nothing but problems with them, and I'm switching to the micro dermals. Given the fact that the base (the little disc under your skin) is so tiny, it's easy for them to pop out, and also to get crooked. Out of the four I've had, only one has managed to NOT get infected and spin around loosely under the skin. I've also had the little tiny disc raise up from where the piercer had placed it, causing the skin to raise up and turn white.
I'm changing mine next week for the micro dermals with the holes- as soon as the piercing parlor in Colorado Springs gets them in. (Not a huge market out here.)
If you take good care of the skin diver... meaning put compression on it for the first 3 nights you have it.. and then everytime you bump it put compression on it.. they should do fine... the wrist is a bad spot because it can easily be bumped! the face not so much!!But it is all about compression.. so anytime you bump these little guys.. take a few bandaids.. fold one inot a little square and put on to skin diver.. now with the other one put it over top to hold the other one down.. make sure its tight enough that it is putting compression on the skindiver.. but not to much pressure that it forces the jewellery into your body, wich can happen!.. if you care for these p[roperly they shouldnt come out so easily.... the microdermal is deffenitly a more secure piercing.. less lickely to come out...but are more abrassive than a skin diver!! skin divers are perfect for the afce and can leave less scaring than a micro dermal!
